Kedarnath is a respected Hindu pilgrimage destination found in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. Situated at 3,583 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas beside the Mandakini River, it is one of the four sites of the Char Dham yatra. it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a key part of the Char Dham Yatra. The ancient Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is believed to have been built by the Pandavas and later revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The temple is surrounded by majestic snow-covered peaks and offers a serene, spiritual environment. Due to heavy snowfall, the temple remains open only from April to November each year. Reaching Kedarnath involves a trek of about 16 km from Gaurikund, though helicopter services are also available. Despite the 2013 floods, Kedarnath has been beautifully restored and continues to draw thousands of devotees and trekkers each year, seeking divine blessings and natural peace.
